Cassie Cure General Practice Medical Director

Dr. Cassie Cure has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since middle school. With a lifelong love for animals and a desire to help others, veterinary medicine became the perfect way to combine both passions. For more than 25 years, she has dedicated her career to helping pets live healthier, happier lives while supporting the people who love them.

She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 2000 and has spent the last 26 years building meaningful relationships with patients, clients, and veterinary teams. Throughout her career, she has remained passionate about continual learning and providing high-quality medicine that strengthens the bond between pets and their families.

What drew Dr. Cure to VHA was the opportunity to practice in a progressive environment surrounded by exceptional colleagues and advanced technology. “VHA is an incredible facility with the most progressive medicine and technology,” she shares. “It allows me to continue learning, advance my skills, and help pets live healthier, happier lives.” Although she is new to the team, she has already found something special in the people around her. “I feel like I have found a home with my people,” she says. “The team here is genuinely caring and supportive.”

One of the many cases that has left a lasting impact on her involved a patient named Remi, a dog diagnosed with an aggressive tumor in his front leg. After undergoing a leg amputation and chemotherapy, Remi went on to thrive, remaining cancer-free for nearly four years. Watching him enthusiastically pull his owner toward the hospital doors for treatment reminded Dr. Cure of the resilience animals possess and their unwavering love of life. “Animals are incredibly resilient and always find joy in living,” she reflects.

At home, Dr. Cure enjoys life with her husband, Kyle, whom she has been married to for 29 years, their daughter Sydney, and their son Maveric, who will be attending Warner University and playing baseball. Their home is also filled with a lively crew of rescued and beloved pets, including Captain, a German Shepherd; Goose, a Black Labrador Retriever; four rescue cats named Martin, Carl, Chuck, and Tyson; two rescued aquatic turtles named Boris and Tommy; and a few fish friends who keep the turtles company.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cure enjoys scuba diving and spending time with her family. Some of her favorite memories are exploring the underwater world together and cheering on her children from the sidelines at sporting events.

To navigate the emotional demands of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cure focuses on the lives she is able to impact and the patients she is able to help. She believes in giving every patient her best while supporting her team through the challenges that come with the profession. What excites her most about joining VHA is the opportunity to collaborate with an outstanding team of veterinarians and specialists, all working together to provide exceptional care.
