Julie Stewart, CVT, CVPM, PHR Julie Stewart, CVT, CVPM, PHR came to VHA in 2007 and is passionate about motivating and training Veterinary Healthcare team members. As the Hospital Administrator and also a Certified Veterinary Technician, her role at VHA is to ensure the best possible care for our clients and our patients.
Julie came to VHA with five years of experience in small and mixed animal practice and over six years of nursing experience at the University of Florida Veterinary Medical Center, where she received advanced training in anesthesia/pain management, critical care nursing, and oncology. In 2011, after a rigorous examination and credentialing process, Julie was awarded the distinction of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager by the Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association. She is very active in the Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association and serves on the Industry Liaison Committee and the Innovation Committee. A sincere passion for creating an engaging work environment for team members combined with extensive training in human resources inspired Julie to become certified as a Professional in Human Resources in 2010.
Julie is well known in the veterinary industry as a lecturer and consultant. She has spoken throughout Florida educating veterinary professionals about topics such as feline heartworm disease, chemotherapy in pets, anesthesia and pain management, human resources, and veterinary hospital management. She worked in teaching labs at the North American Veterinary Conference for over ten years and has been involved in training labs teaching human emergency personnel to render first aid and life-saving measures to police and rescue dogs.
At VHA she has coordinated labs for the VHA team to certify in human CPR, and also for Polk State College Paramedic students to practice intubation techniques. Her main passion remains in nursing care and empowering the nursing staff to continue to advance in the veterinary field, which has led her to enroll VHA as an internship site for Veterinary Technician students from Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College. Julie also founded the Ridge Veterinary Technician Network and the Ridge Veterinary Management Network to provide continuing education opportunities to local veterinary hospitals. Julie’s experience in advanced medicine and enthusiasm for the veterinary industry enable her to lead our VHA team in a dynamic way.
She lives in Davenport with her two children, Wesley and Jocelyn. She also has two fur children, Maddie, a retired research dog, and Herbie, a mischievous orange tabby cat.
